After completing the construction inspection for the intersection improvements of Green River Road and Lincoln Avenue in Evansville, Stuart May received a nice compliment from a local business. Stuart was able to complete the job ahead of schedule with little inconvenience to local businesses. Keep up the good work, Stuart!
United’s Survey Department recently began offering the new service of 3D Modeling Preparation. This service goes hand-in-hand with construction staking and is offered to many of the same contractor clients with machine control applications on their excavating equipment. For more information regarding United’s new 3-D Modeling Services, please contact Survey Department Manager, Tim Coomes. email@example.com
There was fun for all at the 2012 United Picnic held, July 28 at the Sertoma Club of East Indianapolis. Children had the opportunity to play in a bounce house, get their face painted, get a cool balloon creation, learn fire safety, and get prizes.
Although the kids had lots of fun, the adults stole the show with the United Olympics. Whether you were a spectator or a participant, laughter was contagious during the entire event. The teams consisted of four employees each: Team Swarley, Legion of Doom, Old Schooler’s, Civil Disobedients, Sewer Doers, and Joey Chestnut Hot Dawgs. Olympians showed-off their skills in four events: water balloon toss, three-legged race, tricycle race, and tug-of-war. With a few bruised knees, bruised egos, and belly aches (from laughing so hard), there was only one team that was victorious… the Joey Chestnut Hot Dawgs. One thing is for sure, United has great teamwork!
The roundabout at 96th Street and Fall Creek Road is open! 96th Street accommodates significant traffic volumes including large commuter traffic in the morning and afternoon. This large volume of traffic necessitated improvements to the existing roadway and intersections. Hamilton County Highway Department’s reconstruction project included the added travel lanes, a signal at Mollenkoph Road, a roundabout at Fall Creek, and new pedestrian facilities. United Consulting completed the survey, traffic analysis, design, and construction inspection for the project. The project has significantly improved the movement of traffic in the area.
Several United bridge engineers had the opportunity to travel to Austin Texas for Grouting Certification Training for Post-Tensioned Structures. Classes were held by ASBI (American Segmental Bridge Institute) and hosted by the University of Texas. This class was a wealth of knowledge for our engineers and will be of considerable importance as we have Post-Tensioning Operation observation responsibilities on two projects this summer, the OIC in Hamilton County and the Kern Road bridge in South Bend on US31.
