US 31 Plymouth to South Bend Grand Opening

Governor Mike Pence provided the closing remarks at the US 31 Plymouth to South Bend Project Grand Opening Ceremony.  Design development for the project began in 2007.  The US 31 improvements are part of the State’s effort to improve the safety, travel time, and condition of the infrastructure for travel between Indianapolis and South Bend.  This project is 21 miles long with 15 miles of new terrain alignment and four interchanges.  Members of United’s design teams attended and witnessed the results of their efforts.  Unique elements designed by United included a single point interchange at Kern Road with a bridge containing post-tensioned elements.
