Fishers, IN (December 7, 2016) – The opening of a new interchange at 106th Street and I-69 in the city of Fishers (Exit 204) will greatly improve traffic congestion while adding an additional access point to I-69 from Fishers.

The continued growth in the area created the need for the new interchange due to the increased commuter traffic to and from residential and commercial areas, resulting in frequent bottlenecks and back-ups. The new interchange was uniquely designed as an oval-shaped roundabout to provide traffic control and enable safe travel in all directions including 106th Street and all of the directional ramps which allow on and off access to I-69.

United, in conjunction with the city of Fishers and INDOT, overcame several challenges during the design which included: an advanced geometric layout placing an oval shaped roundabout utilizing two bridges over I-69; minimizing impacts within restrictive right-of-way; complex drainage scheme; and coordinating and designing around several utilities, both overhead and underground.
