United believes in promoting education not only in the workplace; but, also through community involvement with young people who are tomorrow’s leaders. Our strong core value of mentoring is reflected in our summer internship program. Six interns are participating in this year’s program, two of whom had internships with United last summer.

Additionally, United participated in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Program through the Education Coalition.  As part of National Engineers Week, Jeromy Richardson, a Team Leader in United’s Transportation Department, promoted the field of engineering to Hamilton Southeastern Intermediate and Junior High students through a presentation which was designed to motivate students to explore the possibilities of the engineering world.

After the presentation, Jeromy summed it all up as, “It was super fun!  I’ll do it again next year. Sixth graders are awesome!”
