It’s official!  The dust has settled, the ribbon cut, and Old US 421 over Clifty Creek is back in business!  Decatur County Bridge No. 2, located one mile north of the Honda Plant in Greensburg, had been closed for the past four months.  On Wednesday, November 5, a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony kicked-off the opening of  the newly constructed bridge.

The project involved the removal and replacement of the original 80-year old bridge which suffered from advanced structural deterioration and scour problems at the foundations. The adjacent roadway was also reconstructed to meet Federal safety standards.

This important $1.5M infrastructure project was a collaborative effort among several entities including Decatur County Highway Department, Decatur County Redevelopment Commission, Indiana Department of Transportation, Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, Dave O’Mara Contracting, CHA, and United Consulting.

According to Kurt Courtney, PE, Construction Project Manager for United Consulting, “I couldn’t have asked for a better project team to make this project a great success for Decatur County.  Dave O’Mara did a good job of getting the project done on time and at a cost below the bid cost.  I would be glad to work with Dave O’Mara and Decatur County again.”
