It was October 7, 2011 and the big day was finally here, United Rocket Day! United staff had been counting down the days leading up to the big launch at the German Church and East 30th Street Park. From the experienced to the novice rocket launcher, employees made rockets in hopes they’d shoot to the stars (well, at least make it off of the ground). The rockets ranged from 12 inches to six feet in height and were decorated in bright colors, feathers and one even contained a Lego astronaut who made the flight. Two of the rockets had cameras affixed to the shell which provided a unique perspective from the view in the sky. Other than one rocket casualty that blew away, the day was fun for launchers and spectators alike.
