Governor Pence Joins Local Officials to Break Ground on Heavy-Haul Road

Charlestown, Ind. (Oct. 14, 2015) — Governor Mike Pence was joined by Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore, President of the Clark County Commissioners Jack Coffman, as well as officials from the River Ridge Commerce Center and the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville to break ground on phase one of a multi-phase transportation corridor project that will connect the River Ridge Commerce Center with the East End Crossing and the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville near the Interstate 265 and State Road 62 interchange.

The $30.4 million Heavy-Haul Road project will be funded through a partnership of the River Ridge Development Authority, the Ports of Indiana, Clark County, the City of Jeffersonville, the Indiana Department of Transportation, and the Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development Agency along with other supporting partners.

“Roads mean jobs. And I don’t mean road jobs. You create the right infrastructure, you have the right vision like we’re implementing today with this transportation corridor. You create the conditions where businesses do what businesses do,” Governor Pence said.

United Consulting has teamed with Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf, American Structurepoint, Banning Engineering, Earth Exploration, Louisville Paving & Construction, and MAC Construction & Excavating to complete work on the project by Fall 2016.

“The bidding of this segment in the River Ridge Commerce Center marks the beginning of a series of significant improvements in this vital area of the State,” said United Consulting President Dave Richter. “We had a team of excellent engineers working tirelessly to complete an important project on a very tight schedule. Congratulations to everybody who had a part in this victory for United and for the community.”
